Tribute to Lance Cpl. Robert Greniger
July 13, 2011. The Defense Department
says 21-year-old Lance Cpl. Robert Greniger
of Greenfield died Tuesday while conducting
combat operations in Helmand Province.
Greniger was assigned to the 2nd Combat
Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II
Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune,
N.C. Robert is the son of Kurt Greniger, an
active member of the Courage Rolling Twins
and 2002 inductee into NWSA’s Hall of Fame.
The mother of a Minnesota Marine killed in
Afghanistan says he switched units so he
could be in Afghanistan. His mother, Teresa,
tells The Associated Press her son was "very
proud" to be a Marine and wanted to serve in
Afghanistan.
Greniger was a combat engineer assigned
to the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd
Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary
Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C. The 2010
Rockford High School graduate joined the
Marine Corps in November 2009 and was
deployed last March.

2011 National Wheelchair Softball
Tournament
As commissioner of NWSA it is my pleasure to
announce that the 2011 National Wheelchair
Softball Tournament locations and dates for the
adult and junior divisions.
*The 2011 Junior NWST will be held in Omaha
at ALLPLAY Complex on August 5th-6th.
*The 2011 NWST (for adults) will be held in
Council Bluffs, IA (at the previous site of the
2004 & 2008 NWST's) with some games to be played
on Nebraska Baron's field at ALLPLAY Complex in
Omaha, NE. on August 11th-13th.
NWSA is very appreciative to the Nebraska
Barons for volunteering to host these
championship tournaments. This will be the third
adult NWST hosted by the Nebraska Barons (2004,
2008 and 2011) and the second junior tournament
(2008 and 2011) in the past 8 years.
More information will be sent to team reps
regarding hotels and other logistics in the
future. This message is for your planning
purposes as a "save the date."
